Well.... it was never going to be a proper real battle. as no way a 20 year old platform is going to outperform a brand new one! But it was good fun being chased by a couple of mates in their 992 GT3MR. MR vs MR!!

So quite an eventful track day unfortunately for me. Sadly I detected a small coolant leak from the right front area of the car following my first 2 warm up laps in the morning. So was following an LMP type racer a Revolution that was trying to pass a 992 GT3RS. From last year, on a hot September day, first dry laps with the LT on track. Unfortunately I didn't put the car into ESC/DYN mode which is what it should have been and needed to be in to get the full potential of car and so kept feeling power was cutting out when I needed it most. So a new to me 675LT and the first time I've taken it on track and attended Pure Mclaren day at Silverstone. It rained in the morning, however was dry int the afternoon. Sadly the Continental tyres I had in the morning were great in the wet, although not quite up to the job in the afternoon unfortunately, feeling very greasy when pushed. I'd like to try the car on Trofeo R's as it was intended....

No where near as exciting as Lance Arnold or Dominic Fahrnbacher driving on their Ring record attempt, but perhaps give you an idea at somewhat of a more "normal" and realistic pace, although for sure still loads of time left on the table, for next time!

So although I had the 991 Cup I was using for most of the day I decided to take my 996 that I drove up there on Michelin PS4's to see how it would be on track. New engine only couple of thousand miles so loosening up slowly. All in all did about 8 laps in total and as I needed to drive by home in it didn't push too hard or take liberties!

Quite a wet day overall. It had just momentarily stopped raining but track was still very wet so had to tread gingerly....1:43 best I could do in the circumstances. I could have pushed still but risk/reward was not in my favour so happy to go home in one piece!

Oh forgot to mention, if you didn't know, my 996 is sporting a 4 liter 480hp engine, so not quite as easy/straightforward to pass me even with a 992 GT3. You'll need to work for it..😄

Perhaps down foxhole a bit more settled but you can't ride the left curb at the bottom like before. Other than that I personally can't tell a difference.

Yes well I'm sure on a more relaxed day with more time and laps I can get to mid 20's. I'm sure however someone with more track knowledge and skill could extract even more. Unfortunately as I simply don't have the access or the time to accumulate that track knowledge it will never be me!

I doubt it any insurance will cover this. Here in the UK most people are self insured so whatever shit happens everyone pays for their own damage. 🤷🏻♂️But yeah I was very lucky I didn't get hit big time or that the 992 didn't plough into the GT4 behind me in which case I would defo had been hit by domino effect.. 😅
